Question: If one receives a bottle of shemitta wine as a gift in chutz lo’oretz. What should one do with it?
Answer: The wine can be drunk (as normal) because there is no prohibition to consume shemitta produce in chutz lo’oretz (although there is an issue of exporting shemitta produce from Eretz Yisroel, an item that has already been exported can be consumed). One must ensure to treat the wine with kedushas shevi’is, therefore it cannot be actively wasted, or used for any other purpose or function other than drinking. For example, one should not extinguish the havdolo candle in shemitta wine (Sefer Hashemitta Perek 7).
Additionally, one cannot dispose of the shemitta wine in the normal fashion, but either leftover wine must be left until it spoils (at which point it can be thrown away normally) or at the very least the wine can be disposed of inside a closed bottle.
