Question:I saw in some siddurim that the last stanza of the piyut of the Arizal for the Shabbat day meal (יְדַי אַסְחֵי אָנָא, לְגַבֵּי חַד מָאנָא, לְסִטְרָא אַחְרִינָא, דְּלֵית בֵּהּ מַמָּשָׁא. אֲזַמֵּן בִּתְלָתָא, בְּכַסָּא דְבִרְכָתָא, לְעִלַּת עִלָּתָא, עֲתִיקָא קַדִּישָׁא.) should be recited prior to washing mayim acharonim: Answer: Rav Chaim Vital in Sha’ar Hakavonos only quotes this stanza in the context of Shabbat day (i.e., the first day meal) but various siddurim do bring this stanza to be recited during each of the three meals of Shabbat – namely Siddur Chida (which is based on the writings of the Chida) and Siddur Ya’avetz (as well as Siddur HaGro). |
